Dear Mother I take
my pen in hand to inform
you of my health I am in
good health at present and hope
you are the same it a long time
since I heard from you I am
afraid that some of you are
not well at home it makes
me uneasy some of the time
I have not heard from
Frank in sometime either
but the soldier some times
is negligent about writing
so it is with him I think
I wish you could see me
if we stay here this summer
I will get a furlough
and come home

For a short time
but as they have been
giving them only for
15 days I thought it
to short a time so
I have been writing
for one of thirty
days

Winsday
Well Mother I take
my pen in hand to
finish this poor letter
to you I am in good
health and spirits to
night last night I drove
to Potomac Creek and
back it was very dark
and stormy we came all
of the way home got
home at one o clock
at night safe and sound

I got a letter from
Sarah she said that

time but you was better
but it makes me feel
uneasy for I fear that
you may suffer but
I cant get my pay from
Government
but as soon as I
do you can have it
for your own use
we are going to move
to morrow I do not
know where they are
going but I don’t care
for that I am
driving team yet for
the regt I hope you
will write soon
to me for I want
