Sept 2 62
Dear Childe
acording to
my agreement I
will try and write
you we left Detroit
last Friday and arived
hear last Eave this
morning finds me
quite well after a

march from Washingto^
about 10 miles we are
the advanse guarde
they are a fiteing 16
miles from hear at
Bulls run & we may
have a chanse soon
we cann not tell our [illegible in original]
hold there one yet I
can sea hundreds of tents

I am rather favored

order to pack for march

this is a fine morning
and I am well and the
men feel in good spir-
its I must close to write
to others if you can
a read this you must not
let any bodey sea it
from your Father
