Dearest. Darling Emma
I wrote
you a few days ago
from Saint Paul
I have been in hopes
I might receive some
letters from my darling
But none have yet
arrived _ Well My Pet
I begin tofeel very
anxious tosee you
a few days after
you receive this and
we will be in Each
others society.
I am having a
splendid visit with
my friends They ar
rejoiced to see their “Hopeful

Mother has enquired all
about my Emma _
Darling I wish you
were here this after
noon _ The young Gents
and Ladies of Mankato
are to have an Excursion
to the Beautiful falls
of “Minneopa” as an
Entertainment for this
poor specamine of
Humanity _ we anticipated
grand times _ We are to
dance in the Evening
But the enjoyment Cant
be complete for me for
my Emma will not
be theirre _ I shall miss
you much indeed _
Last night the Brass
Band gave me a serenade
I felt some what flattered
But such is life
