We allway had a good visit
whenever he came but this
was the best we ever had together
We talked over everything relating
to the war old times Universalist
meetings ministers & papers [illegible in original]
about your visit out there and
I read him many of Edwins letters
but I had such a pile of them that
I did not read them all It made
me cough too much But I wanted
him to see what a capital letter
writer he is and what a good
principled young man he was
Besides I think I have a greater
pride in him and a better claim
on his relationship on the acount
of our long corresponence together
I shall always keep his letters and
when Im done with them they are
to be Julias But I was talking
about Lauren Two days ago
I got a letter from his Soninlay
enclosing Laurens photograph
It is well taken and is one
of the most natural pictures
I ever saw Now I have Harts
& Betseys and Laurens and is it
asking too much to ask you for
yours too I should be so glad to
get them If you will sent them

I guess I should laugh and cry
altogether But I cant promise
mine in return for I have never
had a decent one yet taken Whenever
I have tried they have frightend
myself one thing there has nevere
been but one good artist come into
the town and he could not get
one that I woud have He took
Julias that Edwin has and it is
perfect as can be I have Cecilias
and her three children and
Julia Merrifields Cecilias children
are nice pictures. I have not
heard from you in a long long
time except through Edwins
letters Nelson writes to Helen
too so I know you are yet among
the living I should be glad if you
would write again & Nelson must
write to us too Helen is really
the only one of my children that
dont make a terrible task of
letterwriting so I will have to do
it as long as I can hold a pen
or see the lines which I dont
always But Im at the bottom
of my sheet already Give my love
to Melinda and family Yours in much
love and affection Jeannette Duncan
