      Dear Childe
          I have a litel time
to spare and cannot spend
it more pleasantly than
trying to write to you
we crost the River the 29
have mooved a long sloly
yesterday we started with
a fare prospect of a fight
but halted after marching
10 miles this morning the
Col caled us to gether &

talked to us said he though^
we should have to fight
to day or to morow but

we cant tell the Enem^
may leave and we have
